Notes Additional information (en): Feature description: An undersea canyon approximately 60km northeast of Great Barrier Island (Aotea Island). History/Origin/Meaning: Named in association with Aiguilles Island on the northern tip of Great Barrier Island (Aotea Island). 'Aiguilles' lit.'needles' describes the pointed rocks on the adjacent Needles Point.

Additional information (en): Adopted from NZGB Gazetteer. This feature is located approximately 130 km offshore from the NE coast of the North Island of New Zealand. The N portion is aligned N-S and the S portion is aligned NE-SW. The name first appeared on Coastal Bathymetry Series (CBS) chart 'Cuvier' in 1989. Minimum depth (m): 420. Maximum depth (m): 1500. Total relief (m): 1080. Dimension/size: 20 km long.
