Notes Additional information (en): Agard Seamount is located in the Northern Pacific Ocean, in the vicinity of the western Hawaiian Ridge; approx., 80 miles SE of Lisianski Island; it’s beyond the U.S. Territorial Sea and within the U.S. EEZ. It is situated within the Papahanumokuakea Marine Nat’l Monument. Feature Description: Max depth: approx. 4,600m, Min depth: approx. 3,406m, Total Relief: approx. 1,194m. Survey vessel: NOAA ship Okeanos Explorer. The commemorative name is in honor of Mr. Louis “Uncle Buzzy” Agard, who recently passed away; (1924-2015). Mr. Agard was instrumental in the creation of the Papahanaumokuakea Marine National Monument in the Northwest Hawaiian Islands. He was a commercial fisherman and vigorous advocate for increased protection of the Northwestern Hawaiian Islands. Proposer: Dr. Daniel Wagner, NOAA Papahanumokuakea Marine Nat’l Monument.
