Notes GEBCO: discoverer and year of discovery (en): History: Named in association with Erebus Bay, Erebus Glacier Tongue, Mount Erebus and Erebus Glacier, which are located on Ross Island to the southeast of Erebus Basin and Erebus Fracture Zone. Captain James Ross named Mount Erebus in 1841 after the vessel "Erebus".    
GEBCO: associated meeting, proposer and year of proposal (en): Associated meeting: SCUFN-30. Proposer: New Zealand Geographic Board (NZGB). History: 2017.    
Additional information (en): This feature is located in McMurdo Sound, west of Cape Bird, Ross Island, Antarctica. The name was recorded in a scientific journal in 1983 and first appeared on NIWA Misc chart 'McMurdo Sound' in 1985. Minimum depth (m): 600. Maximum depth (m): 900. Total relief (m): 300.
