GEBCO: discoverer and year of discovery (en): Discoverer: New Zealand research vessels "Tangaroa" and "Rapuhia". Year of discovery: 1989. History: Named from the nearby Ohena Island and Little Ohena Island, New Zealand (The correct orthography has a macron on the [O]).    
Additional information (en): This isolated conical feature is one in a group of knolls at the N end of Alderman Trough in the outer Bay of Plenty region, E-NE of the North Island of New Zealand. The name first appeared on NZ Coastal Bathymetry Series (CBS) chart 'Cuvier' in 1989. Minimum depth (m): 858. Maximum depth (m): 1700. Total relief (m): 842. Dimension: 5 km x 5 km.
