GEBCO: discoverer and year of discovery (en): Discoverer: Philippines survey vessel "Hydrographer Presbitero". Year of discovery: 2008. History: Named from the Agoho tree (Casuarina equisetifolia), a native Philippine tree with oval-shaped fruit. The fruits resemble cones with persistent bracts. The species can be found all over the Philippines, along sandy seashores and inland in broad sandy valleys near streams. It has been observed growing at elevations of up to 800 metres. |
