Belgica information (en): High, mountainous island 73 km long, which is the largest feature in the Palmer Archipelago, lying SW of Brabant Island at the SW end of the group. Named in 1898 by the Belgian Antarctic Expedition under Adrien de Gerlache for the Province and the City of Antwerp, in recognition for the support given to the Belgian Antarctic Expedition by its citizens. |

Belgica information (nl): Dit hoge, bergachtige eiland is met zijn 73 km lengte het grootste eiland van de Palmer Archipel. Het ligt ten zuidwesten van Brabant Eiland in het uiterste zuidwesten van de archipel. De Belgische Antarctica expeditie onder leiding van Adrien de Gerlache noemde het naar de Belgische provincie Antwerpen, ter herkenning van de door haar burgers aan de expeditie geleverde steun. |
