Notes Additional information (en): This feature has an almost conical shape. Minami-Tori Shima Island, literally "Southern Bird Island", also known as Marcus Island, is an isolated Japanese coral atoll in the Northwest Pacific Ocean, and the easternmost land territory of Japan. Minimum depth (m): 2202. Maximum depth (m): 5276. Total relief (m): 3074. Dimension/size: 30 km × 25 km.    
GEBCO: associated meeting, proposer and year of proposal (en): Associated meeting: SCUFN-31. Proposer: Japanese Committee on Undersea Feature Names (JCUFN). History: 2018.    
GEBCO: discoverer and year of discovery (en): Discoverer: Japanese survey vessel "Shoyo". Year of discovery: 2000. History: Named after Mr. Shinroku Mizutani who led a group of 46 Japanese colonists to settle on the nearby Minami-Tori Shima Island on June 30, 1886. The settlement was named "Mizutani" after the leader of the expedition.
