Notes Additional information (en): This feature has a tripod-like shape. Minami-Tori Shima Island, also known as Marcus Island, is an isolated Japanese coral atoll in the Northwest Pacific Ocean, and the easternmost land territory of Japan. Minimum depth (m): 3402. Maximum depth (m): 5712. Total relief (m): 2310. Dimension/size: 25 km × 15 km.

GEBCO: discoverer and year of discovery (en): Discoverer: Japanese survey vessel "Takuyo". Year of discovery: 2002. History: Named from its shape as this feature looks like a group of three bird-claws. There are three similar features in this area, which brings to mind the three-legged crow, a creature found in various mythologies and arts of East Asia. In Japan, it is known as "Yatagarasu". "Ko" is the Japanese for small or minor, meaning that "Ko-Yatagarasu" refers to a small three-legged crow. A series of Seamounts and Guyots around the nearby Minami-Tori Shima Island (literally "Southern Bird Island" in Japanese) have been given bird names.
