GEBCO: discoverer and year of discovery (en): Discoverer: Japanese survey vessel "Takuyo". Year of discovery: 1999. History: Named from its shape as this feature looks like a broad-ribbed limpet (a mollusk), "Unoashi" in Japanese. "Ko" is the Japanese for small or minor, meaning that "Ko-Unoashi" refers to a small broad-ribbed limpet.
