GEBCO: associated meeting, proposer and year of proposal (en): Associated meeting: SCUFN-31. Proposer: Japanese Committee on Undersea Feature Names (JCUFN). History: 2018.
GEBCO: discoverer and year of discovery (en): Discoverer: Japanese survey vessel "Shoyo". Year of discovery: 2001. History: Named from its geographical position, close to Ko-Hakucho Guyot. "Ko-Hakucho-no-Tamago" means "an egg of a small swan" in Japanese ("Ko" for Small and "Hakusho" for Swan). A series of Seamounts and Guyots around the nearby Minami-Tori Shima Island (literally "Southern Bird Island" in Japanese) have been given bird names. The situation of Ko-Hakucho Guyot and Ko-Hakucho-no-Tamago Seamount, with the seamount much smaller than the guyot, is like a bird with its egg.
