GEBCO: discoverer and year of discovery (en): Discoverer: Chinese research vessel "Haiyang 4". Year of discovery: 2000. History: Named after Du Shi (?-38 AD), a scientist during the Han Dynasty of China (206 BC-220 AD). He invented the hydraulic bellows machine, which can make the air feed into iron smelting furnace to cast agriculture tools, thus significantly increasing the production efficiency. This is one of the most important inventions in the history of world mechanical engineering.
